Sustainable warmth and comfort for your feet and your soul.
‘Tis the season to find something to keep your cold tootsies cosy and these adorable Chilote House Shoes are just the thing!
Hand knitted in Patagonia by co-ops of local artisan women, the Fair Trade slippers are truly made with love and each pair is unique. They are knitted using snugly locally produced sheep’s wool and have a durable non-slip sole that is constructed from salmon leather, a re-purposed and up-cycled renewable product.
The purchase of this ethically produced, sustainable footwear helps to provide employment for groups of women in this mountainous region of Chile where their craft is an integral part of the community and their culture. You can even discover which group made your shoes by scanning the unique QR code that accompanies them, and extra wool and leather is provided with each pair in case repairs are required in the future. However, we found the shoes to be incredibly durable as well extremely comfortable. Just perfect for the winter chill!
(And just in case you need an extra pair, they’re currently having a contest on Instagram, which is great because they are the ideal gift for the holidays.)
