One of the most important (and easiest) places to green your life is your beauty routine. By now you might have learned that your skin is not a barrier but is your largest organ, and as such acts as a sponge. It absorbs everything you put on it, therefore it is crucial to learn what ingredients are in the products you are choosing, and what is harmful to you. It’s a simple rule of thumb; if it’s bad for the planet, it is most definitely bad for you, but how to understand what is toxic and what is safe? In the most simplest form we say that when looking at the list of ingredients, if you cannot pronounce it you shouldn’t be using it, but for a more detailed breakdown, we turn to our green beauty go-to girl and one of our Contributing Writers, Kristen Arnett.
Arnett, who has been working in the beauty industry for over 15 years as an educator, make-up artist and brand consultant, now educates the public on non-toxic and clean beauty through her website, Green Beauty Team. Along with a team of respected and knowledgable writers and experts, Arnett strives to help women green their beauty regimes and be their healthiest selves by, “leading the movement in healthy beauty by providing beauty and wellness solutions exclusively from pros.”
Arnett’s latest contribution is “Toss the Toxins Toolkit,” available free on her site and a must-read for every girl. In it, Arnett takes us through tossing out the chemicals, learning what to products to avoid; how to read ingredients and to identify the toxic, and provides us with shopping resources.
To make it really easy for us, she even gives us a printable, wallet-sized list to have handy when in the shopping aisle.A wealth of trusted information and wisdom, Arnett and Green Beauty Team deliver important advice direct to your inbox. Go to the site to read some great articles and sign-up for their newsletter, as you download the toolkit and finally toss the toxins for good!
