Lacoste x National Geographic

By Gary Kingsnorth, Guest European Editor

Lacoste and National Geographic collaborate to celebrate the natural world.

French fashion label, Lacoste, is collaborating with National Geographic on a capsule collection that celebrates the beauty of the natural world, and is a reminder of the importance of conservation.

The collection includes menswear, womenswear and children's wear, and is inspired by the ambitious National Geographic Photo Ark project. Led by award-winning photographer and National Geographic Fellow Joel Sartore, the Photo Ark is a long-term effort to document every species living in the world’s zoos, aquariums, and wildlife sanctuaries. The project, and in turn this new collaboration, aims to celebrate the diversity and splendor of the animal kingdom.

To create this collection, Lacoste decided to highlight four key animals chosen for their exceptional beauty; the Grévy’s Zebra (Equus grevyi), the Green and Black Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates auratus), the Halloween Pennant Dragonfly (Celithemis eponina) and the Jaguar (Panthera onca).

All the fabrics within the collection have been certified sustainable, recycled from the bags of the organic cotton used on the iconic polo shirts and the natural rubber soles on footwear, in keeping with the natural elements that help create our beautiful planet.

With a focus of celebrating the diversity of the natural world, this collection is broad and includes everything from stylish sweaters through to contemporary sunglasses, sneakers, bags, and of course, underwear, covered in bold Jaguar, Zebra and Frog prints.

It's a stylish and contemporary collection that will appeal to those with a keen eye for observation with clever details, which celebrate the world of National Geographic and its iconic, bold, yellow stripes.

The Lacoste x National Geographic collection brings to life the beauty of the jungle, forest, grasslands and waters, reminding us of the importance of the animal kingdom. This ambitious collaboration is a celebration of all that is important and magical in nature, and a tribute to the breath-taking creativity found across species, and throughout our planet.
