As a hot weather lover, most of my days were spent in the backyard this summer. While I am blessed to have the space to breathe freely sans mask, my hair and skin took a definite beating by the sun. Heavy SPF-ing was practiced religiously as was consistent hat wearing, but still those violent UVs along with the hot, dry air dehydrated my locks and beat up my skin, leaving my shoulders, chest and face with plenty of unwelcome spots, rough patches and fine lines.
Now with the cooler temps of fall replacing my cherished heat, it’s time to kickstart a strategic game plan that will erase my summer’s wrath. You know where I’m going with this…it’s all about healing, nourishing ingredients that will feed, hydrate and replace what I lost due to mother nature’s environmental exposure.
Below are the tools I’m using to work on this renovation project!
$8.29 USD
This soothing sheet mask, made from Japanese Bemliese, an innovative cotton material that absorbs and holds up to 13x its weight without dripping, is infused with a potent blend of essential oils and natural botanical flower and leaf extracts that calm irritation and comfort sensitive skin post-sun. I love how it restores my natural skin barrier and brightens my complexion at the same time.
$78 USD
Chapped lips aren’t pretty, nor do they feel good so I’m using the Lip Trio by Athia Skin. The Coconut Lip Scrub (a fine sugar-based exfoliant mixed with bamboo stem extract) buffs away dead skin. I keep the Coconut Lip Mask at my bedside which delivers a surge of moisture while I’m sleeping. The Lip Plumping Gloss is blend of hyaluronic acid and oligopeptides that hydrates and plumps. That one, I keep in my back pocket.
$49 USD
EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) is a protein that helps with cell regeneration. We all have it our skin cells, but it decreases over time. More and more skincare brands are infusing their products with this scientific-sounding ingredient derived from living things, often time animals. THIS genius serum’s EGF is plant-based, which accelerates the skin renewal process, erasing uneven texture, hyperpigmentation and fine lines.
$36 USD
Using micellar technology, this shampoo detoxifies, hydrates and restores hair at the same time. Once the residual oils become encapsulated, active ingredients like aloe vera, botanical proteins from kale, carrot and lemon are infused, leaving your strands replenished, shiny and oh so happy.
$34 USD
Certified organic oils of Jojoba, Argan, Moringa, Rosemary and Clary Sage make up this deeply moisturizing and enriching hair serum that is lightweight in texture and free of synthetic ingredients. I love how my hair surges to life every time I apply it.
$32 USD
This ultra-refreshing, thirst-quenching organic lotion makes my skin Ooh and Ahh! Enriched with antioxidants and vitamin-intensive boosters rosemary extract and lavender oil, Coola’s EcoCert certified formula replaces my dry skin with a smooth, dewy glow.
$17.25 USD
I haven’t had a professional manicure in months so I need all the help I can get. These babies are 10-Free, vegan, formulated by podiatrists and approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association…should I go on? These colors double as a treatment since they’re formulated with nail enriching ingredients wheat protein, tea tree oil, lavender, garlic bulb extract and Vitamins C and E.
$38 USD
While my makeup game has been minimal for months, I still need some coverage help for Zoom calls and the infrequent social distanced gatherings. What I love about this full coverage foundation that also boosts a mineral SPF 40, is the 8 SuperBlacks Essence in its formulation, which offers a host of good for your skin benefits such as preventing skin cell oxidation, improving skin texture, restoring moisture.
