On Thursday night in Los Angeles via live webcast, Elon Musk unveiled Tesla’s sexy new Model 3, their much anticipated, affordable, electric car, launching a phenomenal response reminiscent of the launch of Apple’s iPhone. Immediately orders soared reaching 276,000 globally in three days, with people standing in line outside Tesla showrooms from Hong Kong to Vancouver to deposit $1,000 and secure their car. The response seemed to even surprise CEO Musk as he mused on his Twitter feed, “Definitely going to need to rethink production planning.”

The Model 3 resembles the Model S with a shorter frame, panoramic glass roof and elongated hood. Featuring Tesla’s touchscreen dashboard, seating for five adults, supercharging capabilities, autopilot safety features, a 5-star safety rating, and the ability to go from 0 to 60 in under 60 seconds, this car is as safe as it is exciting.

It remains to be seen but if preliminary orders are anything to go by, it seems imminent with a ride that is smart, sexy, and electric!Screen Shot 2016-04-03 at 11.19.19 AM
