It’s Easter Sunday, for those of you who celebrate, but who needs a holiday as an excuse to enjoy Sunday brunch with the family? Enter Au Fudge, Los Angeles’ first social club for families, or as it has been cheekily described, a “Soho House for kids.”
Set on fashionable Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, Au Fudge is the brainchild of Jessica Biel and partners, Estee Stanley, Joey Gonzalez, Jonathan Rollo, and Kimberly Muller. An all immersive dining experience, what makes it unique is that it also features a marketplace and a creative space for kiddies.
Biel is not the first of her generation of female A-listers making a foray into the world of good-for-you domestic diva brands, following in the footsteps of fellow influencer-entrepreneurs, Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Alba, Katie Holmes, and Blake Lively. An actor getting involved with a restaurant is not a new concept either, but it’s usually in the form of a silent partner. However, Biel has taken a decidedly hands-on approach to her role in Au Fudge, and its place in the community.
Au Fudge offers a full and impressive all-organic menu, with an emphasis on ‘sophisticated-comfort.’ Dishes include salads like the Black Tuscan Kale or Vegan Caesar with quinoa; burgers and sandwiches, such as the old-fashioned tuna salad and everyone’s favorite, grilled cheese, served with tomato soup. Pastas, steak, oysters, roast chicken, salmon, mussels, sole, pancakes and omelets round out their entrée offerings, and their desert menu would make us go for that alone! The cocktail list is resplendent of their hip West Hollywood location, and features grown-up treats such as the MILF (a low cal Margarita), First Base (described as summer love with a strawberry blonde), and Jessica Rabbit’s Rabbit (she’s not bad, she’s just drawn that way). With something delicious for both adults and children, Au Fudge is fun for both the big and little girl in all of us.
Babysitting services and entertainment are offered for your little ones, including karaoke, drawing stations and books, Mommy and Me pilates, with children’s gardening and yoga classes coming soon. But those not in the family way need not be dissuaded. Au Fudge is as much a place to sit back with a Martini and your grown-up girls, munching on a naughty treat of Truffle Grilled Cheese Sticks, as it is to build an ice cream Sundae with your very own mini-me.
