Ayurveda is more than 5,000 years old and known as India’s most traditional system of medicine, but it’s also becoming hugely popular here in the west. Tip #1 – Golden Milk

If you haven’t tried Golden Milk yet, you’re missing out. It has so many health benefits and is soothing to drink. My favorite recipe:

  • 1 can organic coconut milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger root
  • A splash of maple syrup

Simmer (not boil) all ingredients in a saucepan for 3-5 minutes, and enjoy!

Tip #2 -Tongue Scraping

This should be done every morning before you brush your teeth. Tongue scraping removes build up on the tongue that can harbor unwanted bacteria, leaving you with fresher breath and revitalized taste buds. This is a practice of removing ama (toxins) from the body on a regular basis. A constant thick coating on the tongue is a reflection of sluggish and toxic GI tract, and an indication that a cleanse is needed.

Tip # 3 – Annual Detoxing

Routine detoxification is crucial to maintaining good health, preventing disease, keeping energy up and the mind clear and focused. Ayurveda and Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, agree – “All disease begins in the gut.” So we need to clean it out, simple as that.
