Good, Green, Glam

You make every attempt to eat a green diet, deck yourself out in eco duds, slather your skin with natural serums, and paint on a organic make-up each day. But there is one area that you are likely ignoring and it’s a biggie- your cocktails. The grapes and grains used to produce your favorite alcoholic beverage are doused in chemicals during the growing process. Not only are those chemicals then seeping into the ground, polluting the soil and water, but they are becoming ingrained in the makeup of the grape and grain themselves. Translation: if you knockback a couple of conventional spirits, just know that you’re actually sipping on chemical cocktails.

Say Goodbye to Hangovers?
In addition to saving the soil from unnecessary chemical saturation, you are also potentially saving yourself from a nasty hangover! According to organic spirit producers, not to mention some naturopathic doctors, drinking organic spirits is less taxing on the liver. The function of the liver is basic detoxification. Alcohol, an innately toxic substance, irritates the liver by creating excess free radical damage. To minimize the toxic load on the liver, you want to limit the amount of chemicals and pesticides embedded in your food by choosing organic. The easier it is for the liver to digest, the less likely it is that you will be bedded by a hangover.

Instead of absentmindedly imbibing, here are a few organic spirits to know:
